EnterTech at ASU: Research Laboratory

The Center for Film, Media, and Popular Culture is now establishing plans for initial pilot research projects for the EnterTech Laboratory.

The EnterTech Laboratory intends to conduct research in uses of technology in the production of movies and other media, and in the use of technology in the distribution of such movies and other media. EnterTech has chosen to start its research activities with a series of projects involving the use of technology in the distribution of various media types to a variety of target audiences.

The research programs will involve research into:

  • Optimal audience(s) for a given media type;
  • Packaging of media for distribution;
  • Marketing of the media;
  • Methods of distribution;
  • Intellectual property protection;
  • Multilingual considerations; and
  • Tools available to end users.

In each of these early research projects, a type of media will be selected and the appropriate target audience will be determined by EnterTech researchers in consultation with EnterTech’s industry partners. After the media type has been selected, a project team will be assembled. The team will consist of a project leader, and administrative staff member, industry professionals, EnterTech researchers, and appropriate academicians, including students.

Next Steps

EnterTech is interested in working with industry partners to identify potential film and media projects that would be candidates for our initial research, and to participate with EnterTech in defining and conducting the research.
